What we checked on Voiceflow
Multi-agent
The Crew step groups several playbooks as subagents that hand tasks to each other inside the step, with routing in-step rather than through a separate routing agent and exit conditions set globally on the crew.
The Crew step lets you group multiple playbooks together so they can hand off tasks between each other directly.
Agent permissions
The buying team writes the guardrails: a global prompt, playbooks, workflows and escalation rules decide when the agent acts alone and when it hands a conversation to a person, and every path can be tested before customers see it.
The agent follows the playbooks, workflows, and escalation rules your team writes. You can inspect and test every path before customers see it.

Open models
The published credit table bills open-weight models served through Groq alongside the closed providers, so a team can run Llama, Qwen or gpt-oss families as the agent's model rather than only hosted frontier models.

Model choice
You pick the model per agent and per playbook from several providers, can override the project default inside a playbook, and can set a fallback provider for outages; Voiceflow also ships its own tuned model as one option.
Teams choose the model for each agent and playbook from several providers, including Anthropic and Google. They can also use Voiceflow Core,…

Self-hosted
Agents run on Voiceflow's own infrastructure by default — environments are hosted there — and private cloud hosting is named only as an Enterprise plan inclusion, so a buyer below Enterprise cannot move the runtime.
Enterprise plans include unlimited product usage, single sign-on, private cloud hosting, and custom credit allotments.
Tracing and evals
Each run is inspectable and scoreable: transcripts with call recordings, custom LLM evaluations that classify resolution and satisfaction, and an analytics dashboard with latency, credit usage and per-conversation cost that drills into individual logs.
The Analytics dashboard gives you a high-level view of how your agent is performing across production conversations. You can monitor evaluation…
How it meters
Three meters stack: a monthly plan fee, add-ons such as editor seats, phone numbers and concurrent calls, and credits consumed per chat message, per phone minute and per 1K model tokens.
Your Voiceflow bill is made up of a monthly plan fee, optional add-ons like editor seats and phone numbers, and credit-based usage.
Free tier
There is a self-serve route with no sales call: a Free plan for trying the platform, and the agency path is advertised as a free trial that needs no credit card.

MCP server
Two hosted MCP endpoints are documented: an authenticated account server over OAuth that reads and writes workspace resources, and an unauthenticated documentation server with search and retrieval tools.

Bring your own key
The pricing page states you can bring your own model rather than take the vendor's default, and voice is the same: a custom ElevenLabs voiceID can be connected to the agent's TTS settings.
Avoid model lock-in. Choose from the biggest LLM providers, or bring your own model.

A company can buy it
Billing sits at the organisation level with credits shared across all its workspaces, five workspace roles including a dedicated Billing role, and Enterprise contracts handled by a named account manager.
Everything is billed at the organization level, and the plan you pick determines which features you can use and how many credits you get each month.
Seat model
Only editing is seated: each paid plan bundles some free editor seats and more are bought as a monthly add-on, while viewer seats are free and unlimited on every plan. No seat floor or ceiling is published.
Editor seats let additional team members edit agents in your workspace. Every paid plan includes some free editor seats, and you can purchase more as…
Pooled budget
Credits are a single organisation-level balance shared by every workspace, topped up monthly on paid plans, with optional auto top-ups when it hits zero rather than per-seat allowances.
Paid plans include a monthly credit allotment that resets at the start of each billing cycle, and credits are shared across all workspaces in your…
Admin controls
Five workspace roles plus per-project access grants constrain who may build and publish, and environment protection stops an Editor publishing to or merging into a protected production environment.
Editors cannot invite new members or change workspace settings, and cannot publish to or merge into a protected environment.
Audit log
The security page names audit logging and alerting as part of the platform's security operations, alongside full project history tracking that records every publish as a restorable version.
Strong security foundations with encrypted credential storage (bcrypt), audit logging and alerting, granular access controls, continuous updates, and…

Single sign-on
SAML 2.0 single sign-on is real and documented, but the connection is configured per organisation on the Enterprise plan only, so teams below Enterprise sign in without it.
Open Settings → SSO as an Enterprise organization administrator. The SAML connection applies to the organization.
Opt out of training
Nothing to opt out of: the vendor states customer data trains no model of its own, and the third-party model providers it routes to are configured with zero data retention.
Voiceflow does not use customer data to train any machine learning or AI models.

Getting out
A project can be exported as a .vf file or cloned by link from the workspace menu, and conversation data is readable through transcripts and the API; unused credits do not carry over, since paid allotments reset each billing cycle.
From there you can also export the project as a .vf file or share a clone link that lets others copy your agent.
Certifications
SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and GDPR are claimed with per-framework pages and a Trust Center, and HIPAA is framed as supporting compliant deployments rather than a certification.
Voiceflow is SOC 2 Type II compliant, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified, and GDPR compliant, and it supports HIPAA-compliant deployments.
